There's nothing like cozying up under a knit blanket with a cup of cider or cocoa and a cozy fall read! I like to split my autumn reads into three categories: books I read for the fall vibes, spooky thrillers, and quirky paranormal reads. Here are my favorite books that I think you'll love this fall!

Cozy Fall Book Ideas

ree

A Home for Every Season by Steffy Degreff is actually a home decor book that goes through all four seasons, but if you follow Steffy on Instagram or Tiktok, you know autumn is where she really shines. There is no shortage of cozy fall inspiration, and even if home decor doesn't interest you, you can't help but smile as you flip through the photos of her bright orange A-Frame cabin in upstate New York.

The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston is up there as my favorite rom-com of all time. The main character's family business is a funeral home (I promise its not creepy!), and it is chock-full of cozy, feel-good moments. I won't say more because I don't want to spoil anything!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling. I'm sure you've heard of this one before, but the illustrated edition is truly next level. It will give you all the warm and fuzzy fall feels! I love to reread a book or two from the series every fall or winter.

Spooky Halloween & Thriller Ideas

Pet Sematary by Stephen King is the perfect spooky Halloween book. If you haven't read any King before, this is a great one to start with! Most people think of him as a horror writer, but he really knows how to make you fall in love with his characters. This one is phenomenal!

How to Sell a Haunted House: by Grady Hendrix. This one is probably the scariest book I have ever read. It is really well written, and I love Hendrix's writing style. All of that being said, if dolls/puppets coming to life scares you, you should probably skip this one.

The Guest List by Lucy Foley. It's not exactly a whodunnit, more like a thriller-lite. If you want a thriller, but nothing super scary you will love this! It's about a wedding off the coast of Ireland, but as you could guess, something goes wrong. I loved all of the twists and turns! They kept me guessing.

Paranormal Halloween Book Ideas:

The Road to Roswell by Connie Willis was an unexpected delight. I had never heard of this author before, but this was one of the most fun adventure stories I've read this year! Larger-than-life characters, alien abductions, a road trip with the strangest assortment of people, and the tiniest dash of romance.

ree

Bride by Ali Hazelwood is a delightful paranormal romance. If you like funny romances but you've never tried a paranormal romance before, this is a great place to start. Set in modern-day US, but with werewolves and vampires.

ree

House of Earth and Blood from the Crescent City Series by Sarah J Maas. This is more in the fantasy world but in a modern/ futuristic setting. There are vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, and basically every other fantastical creature you could think of! Word of warning, it is 800 pages!

Happy reading, and do drop a note and let me know if you liked any of them!
