Hi, I'm Melissa, a music teacher turned DIYer who lives in a cabin in the woods in the Pacific Northwest. After living in a different house, apartment, townhome, or (van) every year for nearly a decade in my 20s, I stopped waiting for my forever home (or even my dream home!) to start creating a home that I loved.
When I finally bought my first house, within a year, it flooded during a flash flood, and I was left with a choice: either spend $20k+ on remediation or fix it myself.
For nearly a year, whenever I had time off work, I laid flooring on the first floor of my house. There was something so empowering about seeing a vision for your house and using your own two hands to bring it to life.
But more than loving doing DIY myself, I am passionate about seeing other women win in their own homes. Teaching is in my blood (I have a Master's of Education!) and I've taught DIY and decorating basics to over 800,000 women over the past 4 years.
I'm so glad you're here and I cannot wait to see the beautiful home you create with your own hands.
