Time moves so quickly that it’s easy to forget how far we’ve come—especially when it comes to our homes. This year, Kyle and I tackled some of the largest renovations we've ever attempted. Each project felt like a small chapter in the story of our home, and as we close out 2024, I couldn’t resist capturing these moments as if I were tucking them into a time capsule.
What is a time capsule, after all, if not a snapshot of life at a particular moment? So here it is: a collection of the spaces we dreamed up, the rooms we poured ourselves into, and the memories we built along the way. Whether you’re here for inspiration or just to relive the glow-ups, this post is a little glimpse into the love and care we’ve poured into our home—and how it shaped us this year.

Rolling Library Ladder
The ladder was an idea I have been cooking since my dad and I completed our built-in bookshelves as part of the One Room Challenge in 2023. We ended up building the ladder ourselves out of about $200 of red oak boards. The hardware was part of a partnership with Putnam Ladder, and it turned out so well that I've decided it's coming with us if we ever move. It has also been one of my most viewed projects, with over 14 million views! You can watch the tutorial here and here.

The Laundry Room
The laundry room is a very special project for us because it is the first project we did together after Kyle started working with me full-time. We completed this room in 8 weeks as part of the Spring 2024 One Room Challenge. I have an 8-part reel series where you can follow the build, starting here. You can also read my laundry sources blog post here!

Dining Room
The dining room was the first room I re-did that I had already done previously. In its past life, it was a very minimalist farmhouse design. But as my own personal style evolves, I have become less afraid of color, bold patterns, and maximalist design. I also allowed myself to take my time on this project, which took about 6 months to complete. In the DIY world, there is this pressure to complete projects as quickly as possible, so it was nice to let this one evolve on its own. You can see the whole journey here.

Camper Van
If you've been around here this year, you know that this van build basically consumed our entire summer and fall. There was blood, sweat, tears, and many times I wondered if we had made a huge mistake. But the end results really speak for themselves here. You can watch the full build on our YouTube Channel, or see it in photo form on the blog!

Whether you've been here for all of it, or just found me recently, thank you for being here and supporting my content! I could not do it without you, and I am so grateful.
xoxo,
Melissa
Pat yourself (and Kyle) on the back - you guys accomplished so much this year!!
