An Ode to August

Phew. What a fun month! This summer has officially been the longest summer of my life, mostly because I have spent more time outdoors this summer (working on the van) than I have, maybe ever! I've been slowly easing my way into fall decor, and I started by swapping out the gallery wall in my entryway and bedroom. I used this digital art bundle from Etsy and printed the art at Walgreens. Such an easy seasonal swap!

I barely decorated for fall before last year, so I made a conscious effort to thrift fall decor all year long. You can watch all my thrifted finds here.

This month has been really big behind-the-scenes for our business! First, Kyle and I signed on with a talent management agency overseeing all of our brand partnerships. This is such a huge weight off of my shoulders in so many ways. And then of course the launch of this blog!

I spent a couple days over at my friend and fellow DIYer Hannah's @hannah_weakley_home and we built a window seat for her kitchen nook. This was really my first experience following woodworking plans and we realized about halfway through that the plans were kind of terrible! She finished the bench last week and it turned out so beautifully!

Here are a few things I used and loved in August - and you loved them too!

  1. Mug Hooks: This quite possibly was the easiest DIY I have ever done. It took 5 minutes and made such a huge impact both visually and for our kitchen storage.

  2. Etsy Fall Sweatshirts: I have a weakness for holiday sweatshirts from Etsy. The designs there are top tier and I never turn away the chance to buy from small businesses.

  3. Pumpkin vinyl:. I studied jazz piano for several years and the great pumpkin waltz was one of my favorites. Vince Guaraldi, vinyl records, and pumpkins: 3 of my favorite things in one.

  4. Kealite tea light holder: Another Etsy find! So affordable too, under $10!

  5. Athletic dress I've loved this trend and bought myself 2. Zero regrets!

  6. Peanuts welcome mat: I saw this on Pinterest and could not resist buying one for me and my mom! This really may be what set off the Charlie Brown obsession this year.

  7. House Rules book: Maybe the best and most concise design book I've ever read. It has fewer stories and more easy-to-digest design concepts - packed with info!

  8. Instant Glow Serum: I will admit, I was skeptical, but I have seen an absolute night-and-day difference in my skin after using this for a month!

  9. Pumpkin-shaped candles: I think it's a scientific rule that anything shaped like a pumpkin provides an instant dopamine boost.

Here's to a spooky and spectacular September!

xoxo
