If you read my last post, you know that often moms don't want gifts; what they really want is to spend time with you. (If you missed it, you can read it here,) In shocking news, it turns out that lots of dads feel the same way!
For those of you who want to give your dad the gift of yourself this Father's Day, I've got a few suggestions to get you started, and, just like for Mother's Day, I've created printable PDFs with suggested itineraries, as well as a blank one you can use to design your own adventure. Click here to download them and give your dad a Father's Day he'll always remember.
Golf Day (or Mini Golf, or Driving Range...)
If your dad’s a seasoned golfer or just enjoys whacking a few balls around, plan a low-stress golf outing. It could be a full 18 holes, a bucket of balls at the driving range, or even mini golf with ice cream after. The point is to hang out, chat between holes, and make memories.
DIY Day
Just like the Mother’s Day version, this one’s about showing up and helping out. If your dad has a project he’s been putting off—a piece of furniture to fix, something to paint, a shelf to hang—offer to do it together. Bring coffee, throw on music, and knock it out as a team. It’s not just about the finished result; it’s about getting your hands dirty together.
Outdoor Day
This could be anything your dad likes to do - a bike ride, a hike, a little fishing, or an afternoon on the boat. Pack some snacks, put your phones away, and just enjoy being in the moment. These are the kind of days you both remember.
But if your dad doesn't live nearby or you'd rather get him a more traditional gift, I've got ya! I've put together some Father’s Day gift ideas for different kinds of dads. You can click on each photo to shop the items on the photo!
For the Outdoorsman. It feels very serendipitous that Father's Day happens right in the middle of summer, since most hobbies for men take place outdoors! Grilling, camping, boating, sport(ing?), birdwatching, etc. All are items that will be well-loved, no matter Dad's fitness level!
Gifts under $50, because let's be honest, we know how expensive gift giving can get when it involves large families! I included a few personalized gifts, as well as some things that I just know dad will love, even if he wouldn't have bought it for himself (I'm looking at you, mug warmer!).
While all of these gifts feel a little bit luxurious, might I draw your attention to two that I think are particularly gift-worthy? One is the bird feeder camera, which will allow you to watch birds up close as they eat and connects to an app so you can watch later as well! The other is the bidet, and well, I won't get into too much detail, but suffice it to say everyone in my family who has one will never do without it again.
If I might be so bold, I do consider myself an expert in the field of tech dads because, well, I had a tech dad before it was even a thing. The Oura ring is an excellent choice for those health-focused dads (my sister has one and swears by it!), and the clip-on travel phone mount is an affordable choice that my husband never leaves the house without. My dad already has the ember mug warmer and he uses it daily!
However, you choose to celebrate, I hope you spend some wonderful quality time this weekend with dad!
xoxo,
Melissa
