Giveback Project - Megan's Boho Bedroom

Meet the recipient of our first-ever Giveback Project Room Transformation: Megan! Megan is a mom of 3 under 6, including a newborn. She moved into a new house while she was pregnant with her third child last year and then unexpectedly, became a single mom.

Meet Megan's builder-grade bedroom. She moved into this cute brick ranch house last year, and it had recently been flipped. The flippers did an AWESOME job; this room used to be a garage!

The Good: it is a MASSIVE room. It has gorgeous newly installed/refinished oak hardwoods in a dreamy dark wood finish. It also has 4 gorgeous picture windows that bring in plenty of natural light.

The Bad: it is just not Megan's style yet! Megan is dreaming of color, whimsy, and fun. Girly vibes, because she needs a space that is 100% her own.

Megan's Wants: bright, colorful wallpaper or paint, a brand-new king bed, and vibrant bedding from her favorite brand, Naturalife.

From an interior design perspective, there are a few tweaks we will make to the room to make it look bigger and brighter!

Bringing the curtain rods closer to the ceiling and choosing longer curtains will instantly make the room look taller!
A king bed with a headboard will make the room feel more luxurious
A large 9x12 rug to accommodate the larger king bed
Matching nightstands will elevate the room
Moving the dresser and TV will help the room feel less cramped!

The back half of Megan's room will hold her dresser and TV! There is an electrical panel on it (since this was originally the garage), and we are going to do our best to hide it with some well-placed wallpaper.

And HERE is the after! Good luck finding that electrical panel! It is more camouflaged than the chameleons we were all obsessed with as 7th graders. This dresser was the only piece of furniture of Megan's we kept because I just couldn't bear the thought of swapping out this stunning mid-century dresser. In fact, if I didn't have to fly back to Washington without a checked bag at the end of this project, I might have packed that baby right into my suitcase.

The photographer for this room was the amazing home and architectural photographer Justin Jordan. He also styled the room for us, so you may notice a few slight differences between the photos and videos from our reels! All the videos from our project are below:
